It is never too early to start planning for the future! Meeting with a career counselor is a great way to start thinking about internships, jobs or things  you can do to prepare you for the semesters to come. Make an appointment and talk to a counselor to start paving your path for your future after the University of Arkansas.

1. Meet with your Academic Advisor.  

College is the perfect time to take chances and expand your mind. By meeting with your academic advisor you can work to plan for a second major, minor, or even a study abroad opportunity! Making an appointment early in your first semester can ensure that all your goals are taken into account and you stay on track to graduate. Come in with a hard copy of your degree audit and a list of questions to get the most out of your appointment.

2. Make an appointment with a Career Counselor. 

Everybody dreams of landing their perfect job post-graduation. By meeting with a Career Counselor early in your college career you can begin to take the steps towards landing that dream job! The Career Counselors can assist you with a variety of career-related activities from resume advice, interview preparation, and tips on volunteer or internship opportunities that can assist you in exploring your interests.

3.  Get to know your professors.  

Getting to know your professors is one of the most valuable activities you can participate in during your undergraduate experience. Not only are they the best person to go to for questions on class material, they can also serve as great mentors for future career endeavors. Find a professor whose career path or research you really admire and set up a meeting with them! They can provide great connections, insight, and a mentorship that can go beyond your time here at the University of Arkansas!
