1. Buy a calendar and/or planner.

2. Attend New Student Welcome.

New Student Welcome serves as the official welcome for new students at the University of Arkansas. This will be a time to connect with other students (new and returning) and staff, and serves as the official kick-off of A-Week! This is also where you can pick-up your free Class of 2024 T-shirt!  This event will take place on the evening of Sunday, August 16. Start times and locations are being worked on now, and final details will be released by the end of July.

3. Participate in A-Week.

A-Week is designed to aid incoming first-year students in their transition from high school to college by providing programming focused on student success in and outside of their classroom experience. A-Week begins right after students move-in and is filled with events the week before the fall semester starts. Each day of A-Week focuses on a specific theme related to students including Wellness, Campus Engagement, Tradition, Community, and Diversity. A-Week also aims to connect incoming students with both new and upperclassmen Razorbacks. Incoming students are placed in A-Teams that are led by upper-class mentors who lead them through discussions and events related to the daily topics.

4. Participate in HOG W.I.L.D. Welcome Weeks.

Every semester the University of Arkansas and Fayetteville community join together to welcome new and returning students to campus. You are invited to participate in a wide variety of events that have all kinds of FREE stuff! Activities start on Monday, August 26th and continue until the first Razorback Football game.

5. Purchase your textbooks.

Professors will begin posting class materials in August, and you’ll want to have all of them ready for the first day of class. Check out the University of Arkansas Bookstore Midday Madness event. A 10% discount is applied to in-store textbook purchases on August 25, 2019. The Midday Madness discount cannot be applied to purchases made through the bookstore’s website.

6. Print your class schedule and learn the campus.

The University of Arkansas campus is quite large, and as with any new place can be confusing. Make sure to print out a copy of your class schedule and take a trip around campus to locate them before the first day of classes. This is also a great time to find new study locations! 7. Help-A-Hog.

Help-A-Hog is a cross campus collaboration volunteer initiative where students, faculty, and staff help students with navigating campus with strategically placed information tables across campus. Volunteers at the Help-A-Hog tables can help with directions, building codes, academic and administrative services, class locations, and a variety of other issues you may have while navigating your first two days of classes.
